6-point night for Atchison as Cochrane clocks Espanola

ESPANOLA, Ont. – The high-scoring Cochrane Crunch continued their early offensive onslaught in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Friday as they derailed the Espanola Express 10-0 at the Regional Recreation Centre.

Cochrane newcomer Hunter Atchison paced the Crunch attack by amassing a six-point night on a pair of goals and four assists while Seamus Maguire tallied twice and set-up three others in the romp.

The visitors came out quickly in this one grabbing a 4-0 lead after one period of play on a pair of markers by Maguire and singles courtesy of Zachary Renfrew and Parker Moskal.

Cochrane extended their big lead in the middle stanza notching five more tallies to take full control of the contest.

Jeran Knorr, Zak Stepaniuk, Dustin Cordeiro and two by Atchison’s accounted for the Crunch goals in the frame.

Cordeiro then rounded out the barrage with his second of the night in the third to wrap-up the scoring.

Brett Young made 18 stops to record the shutout for Cochrane.

Aaron Callan started for Espanola and suffered the loss with Mitchell Jones coming in during the second period with the duo being peppered with 63 shots in defeat.

Cochrane continues a weekend road trip Saturday in Noelville against the French River Rapids at 7:30 p.m. while Espanola is back at it at home on Sunday when they host Timmins at 4:30 p.m.
