ESPANOLA, Ont. – Noah Serre scored once and set-up two others to aid the Rayside-Balfour Canadians to a convincing 7-1 victory over the Espanola Express Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at the Regional Recreation Complex.
Rayside-Balfour began the night’s scoring 7:23 into the contest on Serre’s seventh of the season.
The Canadians then went up by a pair after one period of play with rookie Baldino Aiello picking up his fifth marker as his club was on a power play.
Building on their cushion, Jordan Spadafore made it 3-0 six and a half minutes into the middle stanza on a man advantage while teammate Evan Krassey added to that at 11:23 followed by Darcy Winkler while up a man and Zachary Snow at even strength to give them four goals in under nine minutes of play.
Espanola did get on the board before the frame was complete as Connor Tessier supplied his third for the Express who were on the power play at the time.
A tight-checking final frame saw only one goal scored and that came off the stick of Rayside-Balfour’s James White at 12:12.
Ethan Lavallee, Taylor Woolcott and Brandon Atkins all chipped in with two assists to aid the Canadians cause.
Shots on goal on the saw night were 41-31 in favour of Rayside-Balfour with MacKenzie Savard picking up the win and Adam Scott the loss.
