The Espanola Express hosted their annual “Pink in the Rink” event on October 30th as they hosted the Timmins Rock at the Espanola Rec Center. Although the Express were unable to pull a win out for their dedicated fans, the team did pull out a huge victory as they helped raise awareness for breast cancer and its deadly consequences. The family health team had a booth set up in the lobby and were very helpful at informing patrons about the disease and the precautionary measures in place for early detection.
The Express sold pink cupcakes in the lobby during the game and also auctioned off the game worn pink Jerseys in an attept to raise money for the cancer society to help raise awareness and to contribute to research of the deadly disease. The Express were pleased that all 20 of the game worn jerseys were purchased via silent auction by our very generous fans. These fundraising initiatives raised approximately $500 which will be donated to the Cancer Society later this week.
