SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Cooper Fredericks (Soo Eagles) and Cameron Menard (Espanola Paper Kings), along with goaltender Graham Gee (Timmins Rock), have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 10.
Cooper Fredericks, (F) Soo Eagles: Contributing at key times in both of the Eagles victories during the time frame, Fredericks played a part in five of the seven goals his team supplied.
The 20-year-old from Miltona, Minn., tallied once and dished out four assists, including having the primary helper on both winning markers, for the Michigan Soo.
Fredericks’ five-point week has moved him into third spot in NOJHL scoring, having already established personal single-season bests in both goals (14) and assists (14).
Cameron Menard, (F) Espanola Paper Kings: Powering Espanola to a big comeback win over the Soo Thunderbirds Saturday, Menard soared back into a share of the NOJHL scoring lead.
Hailing from Carp, Ont., the 18-year-old scored three times, including notching the game-winner, and added an assist, in the third period as part of a five-goal Paper Kings’ barrage in the session.
Menard, whose three hat tricks top the league so far this season, presently paces all skaters in point-per-game average at 1.78. Meanwhile, his 17 goals have him tied for the most on the campaign.
Graham Gee, (G) Timmins Rock: As the youngest goaltender in the league, the 16-year-old Gee added a personal milestone in his lone start last week.
The Kingston, Ont., product turned aside all 29 shots he faced to post his first NOJHL shutout, a road victory at Kirkland Lake.
Gee currently leads all NOJHL netminders in goals-against average at 1.96, having only allowed two, or fewer tallies, to get by him in five of his first seven appearances.
