NOJHL names its Players of the Month for November

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Thursday its respective players of the month for November in the forward, defenceman, goaltender and rookie categories.

FORWARD OF THE MONTH – QUINTON HILL, HEARST LUMBERJACKS: Appearing in five games during the time frame, which were all Lumberjacks’ victories, the 19-year-old from Coquitlam, B.C., registered multiple points in each of them, amassing 13 in total.

In all, Hill scored eight times, to pace all NOJHL skaters in that department, and dished out five assists with his 13 overall points putting him in a share of the league-lead.

Two of his tallies were also game-winners, which is also presently tops in the NOJHL.

DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – CARSON COX, HEARST LUMBERJACKS: Boosting the back-end for Hearst, Cox played at over a point-per-game pace and was solid defensively in helping his side go 5-1 for the month.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alta., the 19-year-old blueliner scored once and helped set-up six more for the Lumberjacks.

Early in the campaign, Cox is already just five points shy of setting a personal single-season best in points.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – TYLER MASTERNAK, TIMMINS ROCK: Almost unbeatable, Masternak allowed only three pucks to get past him in nearly 250 minutes of game action while going 4-0 for the Rock.

The 20-year-old from Oshawa, Ont., presently boasts an NOJHL-best 0.73 goals-against average along with an equally stellar .966 save percentage.

One of his wins was last month was a shutout, which his extended his league record total to 17.

Dating back to last December, Masternak has a solid 17-4-0 record for the Rock.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – LUKE BIBBY, ESPANOLA EXPRESS: The first-year-forward with the Express racked up points in all six outings his club had in November helping them go 3-1-2.

A native of Brantford, Ont., Bibby provided five goals, including a game-winner, and three assists for Espanola in those half dozen match-ups.

He currently leads all NOJHL rookies in offensive production.
