Trio of Nadeau, Young & Zaleski send Beavers past Express

ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers trio of Riley Nadeau, Brendan Young and Ian Zaleski combined for 15 points Sunday afternoon en route to a 10-2 victory over the Espanola Express in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee at the Regional Recreation Complex.

Blind River started strong in earning the road triumph by grabbing a 3-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Nadeau, Jack McLeod and Caleb Serre.

Chase Lammi put Espanola on the board early in the middle session, but the Beavers tacked on three more before the contest was half way done, including a pair by Nadeau to give him his first NOJHL hat trick, while Dante Cavaliere, during a man advantage, notched his initial league goal.

Adam Morgan of the Express and Blind River’s Serre then traded late offensive efforts in the session to make it 7-2 for the visitors after 40 minutes.

Young, who also doled out four assists, added a tally 4:38 into the third to extend the cushion before Ryan Mulligan and Zaleski added late goals to finish off the one-sided decision.

Zaleski had a trio of helpers for Blind River with Nadeau and Justin Mauro having two helpers each.

Maxim Sidelnik made 34 saves to record the win for Blind River.

Joel Rainville started for Espanola and suffered the loss allowing seven on 35 attempts in two periods of work while Ryan Hale handled 13 of 16 in relief.
