Press Release
Espanola On.
The Espanola Express are proud to announce the signing of 1999 birth year defenceman Colin Mcguire. The 6’2″ 180lbs defender hails from Bloomington Minnesota and is no stranger to the NOJHL. The veteran defenceman has played for the Hearst Lumberjacks and most recently the Timmins Rock and was a part of the Cinderalla story playoff run last season with the Rock. The Express management expect Mcguire to be a steady presence and bring some stability on the blue line this season.
“We are happy to bring an experienced guy to our squad, he has played in the league and knows what it takes to be successful at this level,” commented GM Chad Clarke. “We expect Collin to have a break out year under the guidance of Coach Clancy and be a very strong defender for our squad,” added Clarke
Also joining the new look Express will be veteran goaltender Ryan Hale. The 20 year old 6’3″ 180 lbs. Miramachi NB resident returns for his second season with the Express. Hale has been dedicated to his team and was vocal from the last game of the season that he wanted to return and be a part of the new look Express team. Hale will partner between the pipes with gifted goaltender Joel Rainville for this upcoming season.
“Hale had a strong finish to the season last year and played very well for us. We expect him to pick up where he left off and shut down opposing teams night after night,” added Clarke. “I am very confident with our goaltending duo and Hale will be a great leader for our team on and off the ice,” boasted Clarke.
Come see our first exhibition home game Thursday August 30th at the Espanola Rec Center as your Express host the French River Rapids at 7:30pm. The Express first regular season game will be held at the Espanola Rec Center on Friday September 7th as the Blind River Beavers come to town, puck drops at 7:30pm.
