COCHRANE, Ont. – The Kingston Voyageurs (OJHL) got two goals apiece from Aidian Harris, Nick Zarichny and Brennen Revell to help pace them to a 9-4 victory over the Espanola Express Saturday afternoon in Day 2 play of the Polar Bear Classic preseason tournament at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
Each side would score once in the first period with Harris connecting for Kingston and Connor Tessier countering for Espanola.
Action in the middle stanza saw the Ontario Junior Hockey League side from Kingston strike four times while the Express managed one.
Harris, Adam Kim, Zarichny and Revell all tallied for the Voyageurs in the frame while Cole Csorbay converted during a man advantage opportunity for Espanola.
Four more markers for Kingston put the game away in third with Cale Edwards, Revell, Zarichny and Rob Clerc added to the Vees’ offensive outburst.
Sam Blumberger at even strength and Jackson Heacock, via the power play, supplied the final two goals for the Express.
Kyle McNair faced 17 shots in picking up the win for the Voyageurs.
Ross Jones suffered the defeat in net for Espanola seeing 49 shots pumped on target.
Both clubs return to the ice tonight with Kingston taking on the PBC-host Cochrane Crunch back at Tim Horton Event Centre while the Express take on the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls in a pair of 8 p.m. starts.
