Eagles earn weekend split with Express

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Forward Caleb Wood and defenceman Cam Parrot both produced three-point nights helping the Soo Eagles skate to a 6-1 triumph over the Espanola Express in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Saturday night in front of 956 fans at Pullar Stadium.

After winning in Espanola Friday, Lukas Lysyk gave the visiting Express the early lead in the contest on to see Brendan Blair tie it for the Eagles at 5:38.

Heading into the second stanza, Wood connected twice on the power play for Sault Ste. Marie as he scored early and midway through the frame.

The Eagles then put the game away in the third, starting with Alec Schwab’s first 46 seconds into the session before Raf Praysner and Jake Lamberty added additional man advantage efforts to cap off the home ice victory.

Along with Parrot’s three helpers, Brett Morich chipped in with a pair of assists for Soo to aid their offensive cause.

The Eagles out shot Espanola 42-27 with Joseph Benedetto picking up the win while Joel Rainville was saddled with the setback.
