SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Ethan Hoff (Soo Eagles) and Nathan Seed (Hearst Lumberjacks) as well as goaltender Logan Vale (Espanola Paper Kings) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending February 8.
Ethan Hoff, (F) Soo Eagles – A solid run for the 18-year-old from Murrysville, Penn., saw Hoff supply back-to-back three-point efforts in a pair of Eagles’ victories.
He scored twice in each triumph and chipped in with a pair of assists, including one on an overtime winner for surging Sault Ste. Marie, who have gone 10-0-1-0 in their past 11 outings.
Hoff, who played his hockey in Massachusetts the last two seasons, has now tallied seven times in his past three contests for the Eagles and is currently on a four-game point streak.
Nathan Seed, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks – Seed’s pair of multi-point efforts helped Hearst win both of their games over the weekend and see them extend a team winning streak to seven.
Hailing from Newboro, Ont., the 19-year-old forward tallied twice in a home-ice decision versus Timmins Friday, then helped set-up two more in a Saturday road result at Iroquois Falls.
Seed played his minor hockey with the Smiths Falls Bears U18 AAA program previously.
Logan Vale, (G) Espanola Paper Kings – Called upon to make 39 saves in Espanola’s lone matchup in the time frame, Vale did his part with a solid .929 save percentage in backstopping the Paper Kings to a decision against the Soo Thunderbirds.
In his final season of Jr. A hockey, the goalkeeper from Belleville, Ont. has helped solidify the Paper Kings’ rookie-laden defensive corps to sit tied for third in the NOJHL with a save mark of .918.
An alumnus of the Greater Kingston Gaels U18 AAA system, Vale presently shares fifth spot in the NOJHL in wins at 13; is third overall in saves made at 877, while 15 of his starts for Espanola have featured him making 35, or more, stops in each of those appearances.
