Simms shines in Canadians victory over Express

ESPANOLA, Ont. – Tristan Simm tallied twice and helped set-up another to help propel the Rayside-Balfour Canadians to a 5-2 victory over the Espanola Express Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Regional Recreation Complex.

Aaron Roschinsky staked Espanola to the early lead as he converted during a man advantage opportunity at 2:34.

Rayside-Balfour came back to tie it midway through the period on Simm’s first of the night.

They then went in front 2-1 on a Kyle Liinimaa effort at 12:40.

The Canadians picked up the lone marker of the middle session when Chad Denault supplied the eventual game-winner, during a power play, at 4:34.

Action in the third saw MacKenzie Aiken pull the Express closer at 2:53, but the visitors came right back a minute later thanks to a Danny Lepage marker.

Simm then iced it in the late going for Rayside-Balfour with his second of the night and 19th overall to round out the scoring.

Cayse Ton dished out a pair of assists for the Canadians in the triumph.

Rayside-Balfour outshot Espanola 54-26 in the game with Cameron Lamour picking up the win and Logan Sawka the loss.
