Express forward Roschinsky commits to NCAA D-III Aurora of NCHA
ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Espanola Express of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced is pleased to announce the NCAA D-III commitment of forward Aaron Roschinsky who will attend school at Aurora University in Illinois and play for the Spartans men’s hockey program.
The 20-year-old Canton, Mich., product spent two seasons with the Express, including leading Espanola in scoring in 2016-17 with 47 points on 23 goals and 24 assists. His offensive numbers were all single-season highs.
In 86 career NOJHL contests he picked up 65 points on 30 tallies and 35 helpers..
“I am very excited about the chance to play hockey at Aurora University in the fall,” offered Roschinsky.
“I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to continue my hockey career, but also further my education at such a great school,” expressed the Express forward.
Roschinsky won the fans in Espanola over with his style of play as a gritty scoring power forward and quickly became a favorite for his work on and off the ice.
His dedication to the community and the young children, who looked up to him as a role model, was incredible to see.
Aaron was never shy to talk with the fans, sign an autograph or help someone out wherever he could and he truly made himself a community member.
“The past two years playing hockey in Espanola has been one of the best experiences of my life,” stated Roschinsky. “I could not think of a better place to have finished my junior career. The support that myself and the hockey team received from the town is unmatched, and I could not be more thankful for that,” he added.
Coming a long way, both on and off the ice in his tenure with Espanola, His work ethic was incredible and is proof that hard work pays off.
He could be found at the gym every day working out, practiced hard, played harder and dedicated himself to hockey so he could achieve his dreams of playing NCAA hockey.
“I would like to thank my coaches and management for giving me the chance to continue my hockey career after junior at Aurora University. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today,” commented Roschinsky.”
“Aaron is an incredible young man, that I cannot say enough good things about,” commented Express GM Chad Clarke.
“He gave 100% to everything he did on and off the ice and he really deserves his rewards today. He is a classic example of hard work and determination paying off. We couldn’t be happier for Aaron and I truly believe Aurora is getting an amazing young man who will be very successful in his future endeavors,” added Clarke.
When asked about his experience in Espanola, Aaron had this to say.
“Living and playing hockey in Espanola has been a great blessing and I am proud to say I played for the Express.”
Again, I’d like to thank everyone that has had an impact on my life from Espanola, and I’m happy I can call it home. I can’t thank my wonderful billets Steve and Laurie enough for making me feel like I was at home for the past two years.”
The Aurora Spartans compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
