On Tuesday May 12th Espanola council members voted unanimously for the new ownership group to start a new NOJHL franchise here in Espanola. The overwhelming support poured over into the town hall when the councillors quickly adopted the by-law to allow The Espanola Express to operate out of the Espanola Recreational Center. New owners couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the vote stating “We are one step closer now to bringing junior hockey back to Espanola’s Friday night game nights” stated Express owner Clarke.
“The town spoke and we answered the call to action” expressed co-owner Rapcewicz.
The Express ownership group expects to have NOJHL approval by next week and then they will be hoping for NOHA approval by the end of the following week. Once NOJHL board of govenors have voted to accedpt the Express fans can expect season tickets to go on sale.
Also after the NOJHL approval comes in the team will be announcing its first open tryout camp in early June.
