SUDBURY, ON – The Espanola Express are excited and proud to announce the commitment of Centre Bret McInall (Milton, Ontario) to the Laurentian University Voyageurs USports (Formerly CIS) in Sudbury, Ontario.
McInall came to the Express via trade in September from the Brantford 99’ers/Milton IceHawks of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and instantly made an impact in the Express lineup. This season the Milton native set an Express record for most goals and points in a season with 25 goals and 49 points in 52 games played. The Voyageurs staff kept a close eye on him through out the season and watched his development over the season in Espanola and in the NOJHL.
This will mark the first Espanola Express alumni to commit to a Canadian University that is a member of the Usports and OUA rankings. This season to date McInall is the only player from the NOJHL to commit to a Usports program. However he will join a list of NOJHL alumni at Laurentian: Mackenzie Savard, Danny Lepage, Brayden Lachance, Jayme Forslund, Ryan Erickson (Sudbury Nickel Barons/Rayside-Balfour Canadians), Tyler Cooper (Elliot Lake Bobcats) David Elford (Elliot Lake Wildcats) and Cole Peck (Blind River Beavers).
At Laurentian University the former Express Assistant Captain will study in the Business Administration program which he will earn a H.BA degree which is formerly known as a H.COMM degree. The Voyageurs play in the OUA East division and will look to make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season.
