NOJHL names its Players of the Month for October

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Wednesday that Lucas Signoretti (Espanola Paper Kings); Kaden Dundas (Soo Thunderbirds); Kolton Bourret (Soo Thunderbirds) and James Legler (Soo Thunderbirds) have been named its Forward; Defenceman; Goaltender and Rookie of the Month, respectively, for October.

FORWARD OF THE MONTH – LUCAS SIGNORETTI, ESPANOLA PAPER KINGS: An impressive month saw the 19-year-old from Kinborn, Ont., pile up 30 points for the Paper Kings, in just 11 outings.

This featured Signoretti tallying 13 times and dishing out 17 assists along the way to average just under three points-per-game, while pacing all NOJHLers in goals and assists. He also had eight multi-point contests to his credit during the time frame.

The Espanola centre enters November as the league-leader in overall offensive production with 42 points, on 17 goals and 25 helpers.

DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – KADEN DUNDAS, SOO THUNDERBIRDS: The efforts of Dundas at both ends of the ice helped his hometown Thunderbirds go 9-1-0-0 in October and move into second spot overall in the NOJHL standings.

The veteran 20-year-old blueliner scored three times, including a game-winner, and aided in 12 other markers for Sault Ste. Marie. His contributions also provided a half-dozen multi-point affairs.

Currently riding a five-game point streak, Dundas has moved to fourth in scoring among league rearguards, on 17 points in 12 contests.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – KOLTON BOURRET, SOO THUNDERBIRDS:
Making five starts in October, Bourret came away with wins in each of them.

Along with his 5-0 record for the month, the 18-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ont., sported a 1.97 goals-against average, a .944 save percentage and one shutout.

Sitting fourth among league netminders with an average of 2.27 so far this season and sharing second with a save mark of .932, Bourret has 25 victories in 36 career NOJHL appearances.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – JAMES LEGLER, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS: Topping all rookies by producing at a two-point-per-game clip, Legler scored twice and dished out a NOJHL-best 18 assists, in 10 match-ups for the T-Birds to help them make a jump in the league standings.

Hailing from Beaconsfield, Que., Legler, 18, was only held off the game sheet once during the month, while producing five multi-point affairs.

Presently sporting an eight-game point streak, the first-year Thunderbirds forward sits third in NOJHL rookie scoring with 24 points, in 19 contests.
