ESPANOLA, ONTARIO – The Espanola Express are proud to announce their first 16-year old signing of the 2019-20 NOJHL Season by signing Centre/Left Wing Cameron Walker from Sudbury, Ontario.
Walker spent last season with the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midget AAA team in the Great North Midget League and Team Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) at the OHL Cup and OHL Gold Cup. With the Wolves Walker had a point per game average with 11 goals and 13 assists in 24 Great North Midget League games leading them to a NOHA Minor Midget AAA Title with former Espanola Express Assistant Coach Vagelli Sakarellis. He was a leader with the Minor Midget Wolves as he was an alternate captain.
As an Affiliate player with the Express he played three regular season games earning one assist in a Feburary 28th game against the Rayside-Balfour Canadian at the Chelmsford Community Centre. Even through Walker was a 15 year old player he didn’t look out of place in the Express lineup.
After the season concluded Walker was drafted by the Kingston Frontenacs as the first selection in the ninth round of the OHL Priority Selection. He is the first affiliate player in Express history to be selected in the OHL Priority Selection.
